National Craft Month
Its bigger...Its better than ever...

National Craft Month (NCM) is a nationwide consumer awareness program designed to draw attention to crafts and the benefits derived from craft activities. Celebrated each March by consumers and the industry alike, NCM activities and promotions take place nationally and locally.

As part of this nationwide NCM effort, retailers across the country will offer special classes, demonstrations, sales and promotions throughout March. Many retailers will participate in a nationwide contest sponsored by HIA (Hobby Industry Association), a non-profit industry trade association. Keep checking this page for details.

Carol Duvall, the country's "first lady" of crafts will once again serve as HIA’s official National Craft Month spokesperson for 1998. Recognized nationwide from her many years on ABC-TV's Home show, today Carol stars in the Carol Duvall Show on the Home & Garden television network, and makes regular appearances on Our Home and Handmade By Design, both on the Lifetime network. Representing the crafts industry, Carol tours the country during NCM making media appearances to promote crafting.

i-craft, the consumer-friendly NCM message is designed to instill the sense of pride current crafters take in their activities and helps make crafting more appealing to those consumers who have yet to participate. Fully supported by every segment of the craft industry, NCM programs are designed and executed through industry trade organizations, including HIA (Hobby Industry Association), a non-profit trade association consisting of 3900 member companies, representing the world's largest segment of the craft and hobby industry.
